Moray was less than pleased by Viper's arrival, knowing that there was no room to falter under her watch. After the initial bitter welcome the man forced himself to speak up as the kolther in charge demanded to see the chip embedded in Autumn's arm; Moray came back at her, boldly stating that she bring her qualms to him. The kolther wasn't going to have any of that. She sneered leaning into him. "I don't have time for this, now have it show me the chip or I'll have you arrested for disrupting the investigation," Viper growled, quickly loosing patience.
At that point she noticed the frightened orange Kolther muttered something barely audible from her range to Moray. Her gaze shifted just slightly as the man took off, but it wasn't any of her concern at this time. Viper's eyes came back to Moray undoubtedly to see him smirking as he had Autumn hold out her arms. The human complied immediately, sticking out her arms as obnoxiously close as she could to Viper's face. Their satisfaction would not last. Within moments Viper had grabbed hold of Autumn's arm and was examining it closely. At first glance the lack of glow gave way to a cruel grin, but upon pressing into the spot in which Autumn's chip was thought to be embedded to feel for it, she found that the little marker was still there yet somehow not active.
The Kolther in charge was just as speechless as Moray was at that moment; something wasn't right. These chips rarely ever malfunctioned which led her to believe that the source of it wasn't from the chip it's self. A sudden static ridden voice rung through Viper's electronic notifier, disrupting the scene at hand while also confirming the Kolther's suspicions. She let go of Autumn's arm at last in order to pull out the device.
"Roger that... Send backup to check the systems at the interspecies lab. Tap me back if they find anything relevant to the case," she spoke in a professional tone keeping things short and sweet. Slipping the notifier back into her belt pouch Viper let out an exasperated sigh, complications were already beginning to arise. This one'll surely be a pain, but the kill is always worth the struggle, she reminded herself.
"Alright" The black Kolther snapped back to the two; "I can't let yeh go, that's just how it goes here. Moray, you'll be good use to me though. I'll have to access this chip and I'll need your help with identifications." Viper continued to speak up as she pulled out another small device, the one she'd be plugging the chip into. "Huh it's odd that this little fucker's still lit," the kolther grumbled under her breath as she slid in the chip. There was a small click as the chip secured and in mere moments a small screen hologram came up with civilian file and info pertaining to the identity behind the chip.
But then her investigation was further interrupted by the voice of a child coming from behind. She was hard to hear, her voice shakey with show of fright, but Viper heard the question well enough. She turned to the child, crouching down to their level. "I am the officer in charge here, what may I do for yeh?"

Notice sniffled as the dark lady came to her level. "I-I lost my Daddy when the crowds rushed in. I tried calling for him but I... I..." she explained, pointing and looking to the crowd that was still there. Her voice, lip, and finger trembled as cries got closer to slipping out, a few tears slipping out. She sniffled long and hard and turned her face back to the lady. "C-can you help me?" she mumbled, it becoming harder to speak with the imminent crying coming forth. Daddy said that officers were there to help, and to help they need to understand. She was trying to state her problem as calmly as she could, but the stress of behind forcefully separated from her dad was terrifying to her. She had to sniffle quite often now to try and keep calm, but the tears were starting to flow freely now. she wiped at her face and continued to sniffle. "Can someone help me?" she squeaked as she continued to rub her face, though her voice was so distraught and so airy it was very possible now no one heard it.

((If the rest of you are waiting for like Notice's dad to show up, he likely won't for a while, you can still post if you like. Besides wolfchicken you said something about interaction time with Notice, which would be a good idea since Notice has no opinion of Kestrel yet. I don't even know if Sempai has mentioned her to Notice yet))

I've been trying to work on a decent reply for the last few days since this one is one I've been waiting to make. Hopefully, I can get it up tonight. Just not in a great state of mind, but that could be advantageous.))

What was happening?
The dark Kolther took careful note of the officer’s face. She doesn’t know either, he concluded. Viper’s sudden address snapped Moray out of his reverie. He seemed relieved when she let off the pressure and unsurprised when she wouldn’t allow them to walk away. What did surprise him was her affirmation of his usefulness to her. Moray shut his eyes tightly and sighed, pulling out his hair-tie, smoothing his hair back then throwing it into a bun to keep it out of his face and off of his too-warm neck. When he reopened his eyes he fixed them determinedly on Viper’s gaze. “Yeah. Let’s get this asshole.”
A young child, separated, approached the bounty hunter at that moment. Her voice was small and so was her stature. The girl fidgeted nervously as Viper met her at eye-level. Moray tapped Viper’s shoulder lightly with his knuckles, then reached gingerly for the identification device as if to say “may I?” before gently taking and bringing it up to his face. This way he could speed things along, while the authority figure addressed this kid-shaped development. The tall Koltherian glanced at Autumn out of the corner of his eye, gesturing with a quick tilt of his head for the human woman to help out with the little girl. Autumn shot him a look like he had just requested that she gnaw off her own arm and silently, but animatedly, protested. Moray shot her full of daggers with his stare and she balled up her fists and stomped off toward the young Kolther. She tried really hard to look like she wanted to be there.
“Don’t cry. Just, uhm, stick with us. Viper will take care of you.” Her face reddened as she shoved her hands deep into her pockets and tried to look anywhere but at the little girl’s or Viper’s face. She settled for staring awkwardly down at her shoes.
Clear of distraction, Moray returned his attention to the Civilian File glowing in front of him. A few well-practiced manipulations and he had it open. He backed up until he found the brick wall of the restaurant and let himself rest against it as he read.
Terrance Robin, Male, 34 years of age. Terry? He’s dead. Put down for trying to poison his owner. Moray flicked through the information; all the same as before, and still marked deceased. Abruptly, the page reloaded on its own. He blinked and did a double-take. The picture had changed…and so had the information. Margaret Ashcroft, Female, 18 years of age. Deceased. She was put down before she was even sold for harming the rest of the stock. Moray didn’t get as far through his perusal this time before the screen changed again. Benjamin. Deceased. Another reload. Louis. Deceased. Tatiana. Deceased. Deceased. Deceased. Moray went wide-eyed and barreled into the center of Viper’s group and set the device on the ground between them. “This is crazy.” The screen was now a blur of different files changing out for one another, until finally…
It stopped.
A few lines glowed ominously, suspended in the air before them:
Starting from scratch; broke your color-code With a little human ingenuity. Finally, no more little lights burning through Their eyes while they try to sleep. Now you can’t tell danger from docile. Abductors, slavers, and executioners – Hope you’re all afraid.
The holographic display lingered in this way. Moray gave it a few taps, tried to turn it on and off, but every time he switched it back on it would only display the message. The colored letters jumped out to everyone in the way a red’s little chip attracted notice. That is, when they were actually working. Moray understood the message at face value, but any clues it could contain were lost on him. “Yoooooo, this is so creepy,” Autumn said airily.
Moray’s shoulders dropped and he could feel Viper becoming tense next to him. “You’re being a bug. Why don’t you fly away and pester Squash to get out here.” Autumn seemed to like that idea fine. She replied with a quick “yes sir!” and marched back into the restaurant towards the bathrooms. He waited for her to flit away before turning his attention back to their little circle. “Viper, this is…” What words was he looking for? Many crossed his mind: insane, over our heads, too much. No. He locked eyes with her, his tone rife with disappointment in the state of things. “This was inevitable.” ((Goodluck, everyone~))

(aaah if I can get my MYO bought I might be able to throw him in here <3 I'm thinking he's a surveillance officer for the humans on the planet. He could know Moray and Viper and it could be an even MORE awkward triangle of not liking eachother xD)

Woops guys, sorry for the late (and short) reply! ))
"Not a problem." He replied with a kind smile. He continued cleaning until her hands were spotless, free from any blood that had been there previously. He dried them for her and took a step back and tilted his head at her, ears twitching.
"Sorry I just intruded like that...I'm Squash." He introduced himself, which he probably should have done in the first place, "You all good?" He asked, concerned. Not that he expected her to be. That had been a unfortunate situation, and said situation was becoming more dangerous than unfortunate now it seemed, unbeknownst to the two Kolthers.

Kestrel sighed gratefully to see her hands clean and gave Squash a meek smile. "It's alright. Thank you. I'm Kestrel." Her ears flickered as she was curious to how things were going outside now. She didn't want to go back out and see the man she couldn't save. She doubted his body would have been moved with it being a murder scene now...but she still felt curiosity prickling at her stomach. What was going on?! "Hell of a night, huh?" She gave a small laugh to try and ease the tension up a bit.

Autumn trudged into the eatery, happy to be away from the discomfort of fierce judgement and small children. She took the opportunity as a bit of a breather, rather than immediately seeking Squash out. A day full of new and prodding Koltherian faces was not a great day in her book. She leaned against the interior wall, out of sight of the window, and silently reflected.
Treated like a pet. Treated like a child. Treated like garbage. The fight was still aglow within her, but her desire to stay alive outweighed her need to make a point. For all the fancy words like training and rehabilitation and obedience, that is what Moray teaches his danger-tagged charges; how to make the best of the hand fate has dealt. He emphasized the futility of <redacted>ring oneself and dying for honor's sake. Koltherians are not open-minded in terms of the hows and whys a human may act out. All they see is something wild and uncontrollable, so any point trying to be made would be lost, or worse, validate their beliefs regarding man-kind. He also had taught her that her life should be self-valued because you never know what good can happen down the road. And so, Autumn learned to thrive within the rules and toed the lines drawn as much as she could, but was careful to never cross them. For her though, it was exhausting, and to this day their strange faces and comparatively giant everythings wore on her, just as her lack of autonomy destroyed her inside.
Moray was more than accommodating though; she was very lucky to live under him. He gave her as close to freedom as he dared, and was consistently rigid in what rules could not be pushed. She admired that, and only in the past couple of years had come to realize that they weren't just to keep her safe, but to literally keep her alive. They put up a front when they're out in public. It's an illusion of physical control and discipline, and often made her laugh inside to see such a relaxed person act with such formality and diligence. In safe situations, she liked to fluster him, but it was true: she had pushed everything too far tonight and was lucky that the individuals around her were "pet people" that did not despise her race.
Moray never called himself her master, never made her refer to him as such, and never called her a pet or a slave. Whether he truly felt that way or just knew the inner workings of a red's mind that well, she couldn't say, but it felt like she was an equal (albeit in a parent-child type way), and that made their relationship possible. That made her fond of him.
She started to move again, gathering a few pieces of food and stuffing them into her jacket pockets. Autumn pushed through the bathroom doors, chewing loudly to find her unlikely friend, Squash, doting on the Kolther-woman that had tried to save the guy in the street. Dead now, but at least she had tried.
"Hey, you gonna make-out or what?" she says casually to Squash before taking another bite of food. "Moray's lookin' for you." She gave a moments pause then turned around and left to gather a few more pieces of food. Who knew how long they would be here.

Kestrel's face lit up in a bright green blush at the human's remark, snapping her hands away from the orange male. "What?!" She yelped, but in turned into uneasy chuckling as she tried to force her blush away. The human was just being silly. The athlete cleared her throat and rubbed the back of her neck. "We should probably head back out a-anyways and check in."

The taller Kolth nodded in agreement as he gave a glance at the door to the restroom, a pin-prick of nervous curiosity in his heart as well.
"Yeah, for sure...Honestly never thought I'd see anything like that in Drovill...it's very odd." He started. Squash looked to be in thought for a moment, and seemed to have more to say, but he was stopped by a familiar voice. His lifted his arm and glanced under it at Autumn who was in the doorway.
He shouldn't be surprised by her teasing. He really should be used to it by now, honestly. Still, his face flushed, yellow now across his cheeks in kin with the green on Kestrel's. He glanced at Kes and her reaction seemed to get him more flustered, dropping his arm he shot a look down at Autumn and her quiet smugness. Ears completely pricked so that they tapped against each other, eyes wide, lips pursed and his cheeks puffed up with air. Incorporating that blush across his cheeks made for a seriously embarrassed looking Squash.
"Autumn!" His voice seemed a little higher than normal. "No, we just...I was just helping her with her hands. Anyway, we were just on our way out..." He prodded at a few off the spines on his neck, one of many nervous ticks he had. He moved to the door and held it open for the girls, he didn't seem to be able to make eye contact with either of them.
"Go on then..." He gave Autumn a gentle nudge with his tail to get her moving, he waited for both the human girl and Kestrel to exit the restroom before he shut the door behind them and followed them off towards the small group. The bubble of safety and ignorance in the bathroom would soon be missed by Squash, however he was unaware of this as he approached Moray, Viper and the new child he had yet to meet.
