.:The First Audit:.
Taking place about one hundred years ago, this rp is based on Moray's first audit before becoming immersed in human practice. This is his 'first' interaction with Viper and a new face, Soundproof. Both will be performing the audit for the male. For the most part, the setting takes place in Drovil...
-Cast-
Moray (Ref) Viper (Ref) and Soundproof (Ref)
The day was still young in many of the inhabited cities of Aivos, the hot sun barely starting to streak across the sky. Everything seemed to feel lethargic as the clock slowly ticked away, as though the air was stagnant and it was time to just sleep in. But no, today was work as usual. In Concoast, a koltherian was already up and showered, finishing in dressing himself in his typical clean appearance as he stepped out into his home office. Everything had its place, neat in piles or stacks. He clicked open a tablet to view the calendar, briefly scanning through his morning work to see what needed to be done for the day. There was a koltherian's file that he'd been looking over for a few days now, someone who'd been a human obedience trainer for 30 some years now. The male's scarlet eyes scanned the file for what had probably been the fortieth time.
Name: Moray Kenelket Sex: Male Location: Drovil Education: 6th Level Flunked
The male growled in annoyance and rolled his eyes to read this. Uneducated twit. Typically he'd put the file aside just for this, close it and write him up as incompetent to continue with work. But somehow he found this could be a reliable civilian for the position. He had plenty of experience working with humans, not to mention his training capabilities seemed to meet standards if not stand above them just a bit. The only reason his facility's standards of training were in question was because of a recent series of events effecting him. A red tag had attacked him recently, resulting in the mauling of said human. This perked the male's interest in hearing more about him. Still carrying the tablet with him, the wealthy kolth ran his fingers through his groomed hair briefly before standing up and walking back out into the hall. As he passed a room, he knocked his tail against the door to wake his slave, continuing to walk foreword as that would be the only wakeup call he'd give. He placed the tablet onto the counter as he reached the kitchen, the file hovering above it as a hologram. His tail swished behind him slightly as he switched to another file, this one of one of the audit officers he'd assigned to the case.
Name: Viper Sex: Female Location: Orita Education: Finished
Viper, AIRO's dog sent to clean up their problems. Part time occupation a level lower than his own; being an independent agent for human trainers and the like. The male clicked the image and pulled up a holographic keyboard, quickly typing away at it. His ear twitched as he heard the little footsteps of a barefooted human enter the room, but he didn't look up from what he was doing to acknowledge her. Unfazed, the alien went to the fridge to start up with breakfast, but the kolther's tail switched to close the refrigerator as it opened. As she looked his way, he lifted a finger to point at the screen and she nodded, opening the cabinet for something quicker, seeing as they would be leaving for an appointment soon. As she finished the waffle mix and poured it into the maker, her master finished his typing and turned to her. Neither spoke a word as they switched places, the human climbing onto a stool near the counter to dial a number.
The bounty-hunter's phone rang, though almost instantly it left a message rather than waiting for an answer. "This is a message for the audit officer, Viper. This is from the surveillance chief of domestic human interactions' office. You've been assigned to an audit for a human trainer whose license and facility needs examination. An audit will be performed today with the chief in participation to ensure all goes well and to interview the koltherian in question. The case file and rendezvous coordinates you will find attached to this message. Will arrive by 10:00am." The slave hung up as she finished reading what her master had typed up, looking up as the waffles finished and he separated their rations, hers of course being smaller and more bland as he topped his with sweet fruits and such. The human began to click in another number, leaving a similar message for the kolth that was to be audited.

The sun had just peaked over the horizon and was now running low across the narrow city streets. Inside a garage shop a Koltherian was working intently on a project. She happened to be up earlier than what was usual for the black kolther, building a custom hoverboard for a client. They were her most popular commission work, and with all the experience she had under her belt it made for easy work too. Wearing a helm to prevent sparks from flying into her face and a clunky set of headphones that lay loosely around the kolth's neck with music blasting; Viper soldered away at the metal parts. Morning light soon shown through the opened garage streaking across her face, and causing unwelcomed glare. Having to break from her flow once she was into her work was less than pleasing, but the light was making it hard to see details and the kolth was bent on being precise. With a huff she turned off the torch, tossing it aside.
Looks like it's time to relocate to the back, shoulda shut the fuckin' garage, she thought to herself, but as Viper removed the helm she noticed the notifier blipping. "Huh." The Koth turned off her music, then swiped it up off the floor, pulling up the message as she did. The message recording started right off the bat, informing her of a new audit she was being assigned to and the initial meeting she was to take part in where they'd be interviewing the facility owner.
"At least he had the decency to leave a message this time," she sneered at the mention of the Chief, lighting up a new cig as she wove her way around the clutter. The mention of a new case peeked her interest, though and she almost felt bad for all the shit in store for them. It was gonna be a rough meeting, and she had an hour to get her ass over there. Viper stuffed the notifier into a pocket and grabbed her boots along the way, leaning back against her bike as the black Kolth worked at getting them on. Grabbing a spare few more things for the trip and the Kolth was ready to go. She started up the motorcycle, kicking back the stand before she sped right out of the garage shop, pressing a little remote that closed the place up.
The great thing about these bikes were that they were built for speed and were sleek as fuck. They moved so much faster than anything else on the ground, and so it often took Viper little time to get to her destination. Within no time the vehicle screeched to a halt in front of the meeting place. It was a restaurant, and by the looks of it one of the nicer ones in the area. Viper couldn't care less.

An expensive looking sports car drove up and parked near the front of the restaurant not long after Viper's arrival, painted a sleek black with tinted windows. The driver's side door clicked open and a well-dressed Kolth stepped out in his true form. He readjusted his tie and suit jacket a tad, dark purple shades resting on his nose as one of his tall ears flickered. The male stood by the open door for a few moments, seemly waiting for something as his seat wriggled back and forth a bit. "Sir..." A small voice whispered, a tablet being held out from behind the seat. He scooped up the tablet and stuck it under his arm, his tail flicking around to unlatch the seat and fold it foreword. A young human female climbed out, patting off her knees a bit before falling in line behind her owner as he closed the car door. As they walked up, the kolth hardly even seemed to notice Viper off to one side with her cig between her teeth. No doubt they wouldn't let her in with that. The dark blue and black kolth paused before the doors, his slave hurrying to open them for him, but he hadn't stopped for that reason. He ran a hand over his combed back hair, checking a pocket watch before clearing his throat and entering. He didn't say anything or make any indication, but he was expecting Viper to follow. The slave remained at the door, holding it open for the female to enter. The male did turn though, tapping his sun glasses as a signal to his human to remain at the door and wait for the trainer to arrive.

The black Kolth went ahead and parked her bike. She doubt that either of them were here yet, so she leaned back against the wall to take a few minutes and finish off her cig. Not soon after did a pricey black vehicle roll up, eliciting a sneer from Viper who no doubt knew the man inside. The blue and black Kolther stepped out of the car with his little human pet following not far behind. While it appeared that he took no notice, she could tell by his body language that he knew she was there, but it wasn't just that; the fucker played it in such a way that pissed her off to no end. The black Kolther watched the two from a distance as Soundproof finally stepped inside, leaving his little human to keep the door open for her. Viper flicked away what was left of her cigarette and headed toward the door, with the coolness of her presence dropping into bitter scowl. Just the sight of the human was off putting and made the kolther increasingly irritable, so much that she visibly snarled at the small girl upon entering the restaurant.
"Get goin' yeh little shit," Viper spat as she whipped passed, heading over to the table Soundproof reserved for them. Unlike the dark blue kolther she wasn't dressed the part for such an upscale restaurant, which had her sticking out like a sore thumb. Gazes throughout were drawn to their table as Viper yanked out the closest chair and turned it back, settling down with a sudden dangerously calm composure.
"Hey Chief, been a while hasn't it? "

The male narrowed his eyes behind his glasses as he sat across from Viper, his tail tip twitching a little irritably. He took notice that she was dressed very inapproprietly for the setting and his ears lowered noticeably out of annoyance. Stupid bitch didn't know how to dress herself to appear even decently in public. All he could hope was that at least this Moray would dress for the occasion. He'd make a very clear note if he didn't.
The officer sat back in his chair a bit, rolling his neck in an attempt to loosen up. He just had to sit there for an hour and then they could be done with this stupid audit. He raised his wrist to check his watch again, frowning to see the designated meeting time was nearly upon them and their guest had yet to arrive. At Viper's statement, his ears perked a bit, one twitching towards the tip, though he didn't respond with more than a look and then quickly moving his gaze back to his tablet, starting to pull the files that they'd need for the night together. Or at least pretend to, since he had already done this before arriving.

Moray had been up since 5 a.m. No charges today, no appointments, no visits, no paperwork to turn in; finally just a chance to do some routine work around the facility and relax. He was up and at it since he had opened his eyes, lumbering around in a pair of pajama pants, a tank, and his work boots. Moray walked his facility, as he did every morning (jogging over half of it to get his blood moving). He made the rounds, checking on locked doors and fencing, then retrieving a few packages from the front that had been over-nighted to him. He rested the parcels on stone bench, then unlatched and pulled open a gate to a little garden plot; one of April’s hobbies.
April was Moray’s human companion, a 45 year old red-tag and bundle of shy nerves. She kept busy with a multitude of quiet, independent hobbies such as reading and gardening. He had set up the plot for her long ago, just as he had set up a library in his own office for her use. He spoiled her, but it was nothing she hadn’t earned or deserved. Plus, he had no one else to really cater to. Her garden breathed life into Moray’s property, just as the reading area made his office seem a little more lived in. Moray, who had rarely been home back in his slave-trader days, had very little in the way of décor. His setups were simple and easily cleaned to suit his lifestyle.
The sun had begun to rise at this point. Moray took a moment for himself, then snapped back to it. He left the gate open for April to come and go throughout the day and walked its perimeter to a small shed. He too unlocked its door and went inside, returning with some large garden tools and a small tool chest. He set all but one of the items down on or near the same stone bench and walked to the back of the plot where it still remained unplanted. Moray hummed a familiar song, turning and working the soil. When he was satisfied, it was 8 a.m. and he headed back inside.
April greeted him with a soft “hello” as he pulled off his dirty boots, setting them by the door. Moray flashed a gentle smile before sliding around the corner into the kitchen. “You were up a little earlier than usual today,” the human commented, leaning against the opening of the room. Moray was busy rinsing the dirt away from his hands and then went as far as to splash the water running from the tap over his face a few times. Drying himself off with a dish towel, he stood erect and turned towards her.
“Ah yeah, I was loosening the soil in that part of your garden like you had asked me to last night.” His voice was low and husky with the morning’s disuse. He replaced the rag.
“Oh thank-you, but you didn’t have to get up at the crack of dawn. I’m patient, you know that.”
“Nah, it’s going to be a little too hot, later. Checked the weather before going to sleep.” He glided over to her and hoisted her up onto the counter. He leaned over her, propping himself up with his long arms. Now, they were face to face. “What are you feelin’ like today?”
She looked upwards in thought with an audible “hmmmm” before looking back into his face and beginning to answer, grinning. Moray’s secretarial/organizational device went off behind her. “Oh…” she turned her body to look at the interruption.
Moray’s ears shot backwards and he rolled his eyes. “Just let it go to voicemail,” he huffed when she had offered to answer it. “There’s no reason for anyone to be calling this early, or really at all today. And if it’s Squash, he can wait; I’m not ready to get locked into a 2 hour long phone conversation yet.” He smirked, then moved to April’s left, folding his arms and resting his chest completely on the countertop. Moray waited to see the familiar blinking light of a pending message, then unenthusiastically reached out and tapped a button.
A little hologram at the top sprang to life showing an image of an envelope with a paperclip over it, indicating an attachment of some sort. Moray went ahead and opened it while the message played. A female voice rang out clearly. The message that had been left was curt, and left Moray with a grimace. “10 a.m.? That’s less than two hours from now,” April remarked. Moray gave her a side-eyed glance, furrowing his brow. Clearly he was irritated with the lack of courtesy or preplanning. Luckily for this inconsiderate chief-person, he had his day free. He flicked through the coordinates that had been sent and quickly GPS’d them, finding that it was close enough to walk to. Fancy though; way too fancy. Sighing, he switched the device back into stand-by, then gracefully stood and turned with his back to April.
A heavy sigh. “So much for breakfast. You’ll be fine eating alone?”
She smiled wryly, “you know I’ll be fine. You have to take care of this.”
Moray rubbed the back of his neck and gave a small stretch. “Fucker didn’t even leave a name, April.” He turned back to look at her, casually leaning against the stove for support, rubbing the spot between his eyes.
“Yes, that does come off as a bit...arrogant. Don’t worry about it, though. You go, and I’ll eat and make sure everything is in order for you here.”
Moray’s smile was tired and appreciative. He lifted her back up off the counter and gently placed her back on the floor. “Thank you. I’ll have to go get ready then.” He walked out of the kitchen entrance and around the corner, then to his room.
“Wear something nice!” April shouted after him.
After closing the door, Moray glided over to his closet to pick through the few nice pieces of clothing that he owned. He settled on a white collared button-down, dark vest, black slacks, and a bright, teal tie. He dressed quickly enough, folding the sleeves of the shirt up over his elbows, brushing out his long hair, then pulling on a pair of black dress shoes. A few more moments of grooming and he was stepping out the door with about an hour and 15 minutes to get to the restaurant. So far so good.
After a few double-checks of his hand-held, Moray found himself at the rendezvous point. He stood outside for a few moments, not sure whether to wait or find a seat. While looking around, he spotted a human waiting at the door who had been staring at him with an anxious expression. He moved over to her, and crouched so that she would not be craning her neck to see his face. When she had opened her mouth to inform him of her master’s whereabouts, Moray found himself chuckling. “You’re the one that left the message,” he interrupted. She seemed flustered by his easy-going mannerisms. He asked her name, and quickly got it, then requested that she show him to the correct table.
Moray stopped dead a number of paces away from the table. A man strange to him, blue and black, sat at it, but he was more unsettled by the black koltherian with him. Viper. Fucking Viper: a woman who not only hated humans, but relished the opportunity to kill them. She had let him have it after staying for a late meal the night Moray had had his face sliced open by one of his clients’ pets. Was this meeting her idea? He overcame his unease quickly enough. “Thank you,” he said quietly to Alex with a slight bow of his head, before approaching the table.

Alex had been surprised to hear only nice things from such a kolth, having already been frightened enough by Viper's growling. However she did bring him to the table as her master had asked. As the new kolth approached, the Chief looked up from where the two sat. Typically the polite thing to do would be to rise and greet the guest. But he did not. His ears twitched a bit as he eyed him, noting that this was the correct fellow and checking the time on his watch. 10:04. He was late. Whilst still staring at the watch face, Soundproof used his tail to pull the empty chair out from under the table, inviting Moray to sit in doing this. His human came over to the table, deciding to stand just behind Sound's shoulder and between him and Moray, not really wanting to be within arm's reach of Viper. She could just barely be seen from above the table, staying close to Soundproof in case he needed her to do anything.
After a few moments of Moray settling in, a young female came over to take their drink orders. Soundproof held the menu in front of his face, eying the drink selection and pointing out his order of a water to the waitress. This was a meeting afterall and they shouldn't drink during work. He was about to raise three fingers to indicate a water for each, but out of the corner of his eye he noticed the others were looking at their own menus to pick out their drink selections. He frowned a bit at this, his tail curling towards the tip in irritation, but he said nothing as he allowed them to get their own drinks. However he did motion for the waitress to brink out a water for his slave as well.
