Setting: Vondale, mid afternoon, warm humid sunny Character: Chimera (single, looking for friends/mate)
Chimera smiled as he handed out a few plates of food at a table, nodding at a female's request for a new drink, quickly scribbling on his notepad what she wanted before heading in back. Once he was out of sight of any customers he quickly dropped the smile, glancing out at the customers eating through a small window in the door. His shift was almost over, and he would be home alone once again. Letting out a quick sigh he grabbed the drink for the customer and smiled once more. He hurriedly moved through several tables, trying his best to ignore any odd looks that he got or the whispers he would catch from customers who thought he was out of earshot. Chimera was just that, a chimera of two strikingly different looking koltherians. Ignoring the voice in his head he looks up and notices a customer standing and waiting to be seated! "Good afternoon! Table for one?" He smiles widely as he places a hand on a menu. "I don't think I have seen you around before. Are you new to Vondale?" He asks as he leads them to a table.

A blue colored Koltherian walked into the small diner, carrying a pet carrier in one hand as he peered curiously around at the neat little eatery. For a moment he almost hadn't noticed the little mismatched colored Kolth in front of him, but once he had his ears flickered foreword curiously. "Oh, yes please. Yeah, I'm not from around here, I'm just passing through on the way home. Thought maybe I'd grab a bite to eat and find somewhere to spend the night." He shifted the carrier as he was lead off to a booth. "Though it's hard to really find anywhere that accepts pets into the facility..."

Chimera nodded as he lead the newcomer over to a small table, waiting for him to sit before handing him the menu. "Yeah pets aren't too common besides humans, and they aren't exactly common either. I'm Chimera and I will be your server this afternoon." He peered curiously into the carrier that the male placed beside him, wondering what might be inside. Pets were a bit of a rarity, although they had been growing in popularity. "I'll give you a few minutes to decide." Chimera said before hurrying in back, his tail twitching behind him. After a while he returned, notepad and pen in hand to take the male's order. He couldn't help but linger though as he glanced at the carrier once more, curiousity knawing at him. "May I ask, what do you have in there?"

The kolth read through the menu, struggling to decide what he wanted. As the waiter returned, he looked a little frantic to decide, but relaxed as the attention was diverted to the pet carrier. "Oh, that's just my bird, Flutter. I know it's weird that she's in a carrier intended for mammals, but it's safer to travel with than a bird cage. But she's a bit of a bother and she's had her feathers ruffled for the entire trip. I wouldn't recommend sticking any fingers in there..." The blue kolth stuck out his tongue as he was still struggling to decide on a meal. "Eeeh...any specials?"
(Don't hold me to Flutter, I still need to run her by Mill >3<)

Chimera cocked his head to the side and leaned over a bit to look into the carrier, seeing a mass of purple feathers inside, eyes looking straight back at him curiously. "She's cute." He said, though his tone seemed a bit quieter and meeker than it should have been. Chimera instantly straightened up when the male asked him if there were any specials, smiling once again. "We don't really carry any specials, but we grow all of our vegetables in a garden in back of the restaurant, so our salads are very popular and are usually ordered with a meat of some kind." He suggested, hoping that it might help.
((Note that when Freak is speaking his speak is this color and when Chimera is speaking his speak is this color. They each speak a bit differently as far as their tones usually go, Freak being the quieter and shier of the two.))

Glacier's ears perked at hearing this. "Oh! I'll take a salad, that sounds nice. Aaand with it I suppose...how about the pulled pork sandwich? Can you add some fruits to the salad too." He lightly patted the pet carrier with a smile to the oddly colored waiter.

Chimera nodded enthusiastically as he wrote down the order on his notepad. "Certainly! I'll be back in a few with your order." He rushed over to the computer to put in the order before heading in back to pick up food for another table, gracefully moving between tables as he picked up orders, refreshed drinks and chatted with customers. That was of course, until a seemingly random koltherian stuck his tail out in front of Chimera's feet when he was mid stride, causing him to suddenly lose his footing and land on the ground on his shoulder, hard. Gritting his teeth against the pain he forced himself to get up quickly, ignoring the snickering coming from a few tables. He grasped his left shoulder and winced, mumbled a quick apology to the patrons around him before hurrying to the kitchen. A few minutes later he reappeared with Glacier's food, gently setting it on the table. "Sorry for the wait, please enjoy." Freak said quietly, his ears tilted back in embarrassment. Unfortunately it was still a fairly common occurrence for the young kolther to get bullied this way, so he was rather used to it.

Glacier hadn't been paying much attention until he heard the thud and looked up. His ears flattened aggressively at the sight of the one kolther tripping the polite waiter, growling under his breath as they snickered. He relaxed a little when Chimera returned with his food, not wanting to embarrass him any further. "Thank you very much." He spoke and offered a small smile. "Are you alright? You landed pretty hard..."

Chimera was a bit taken aback when Glacier had asked if he was okay, he wasn't used to others caring about his well being. "What? Oh yeah... My shoulder is a bit sore but I'll be fine. I'm used to it by now anyways. Sorry, I hope I didn't make too much of a scene." He blushed a little bit in embarrassment, the color showing easily on his white cheeks. "Anyways, enjoy your meal." He bobbed his head and darted back to the kitchen, deciding to splash some water on his face to help him calm down. He looked calm on the inside, but his heart was racing and his nerves were frazzled. Typically he was pretty safe from any bullying while he was at work, it had been a long time since someone had done that to him in front of so many others.
Glancing up at the clock he felt relieved to see that it was time for him to go home. He gathered his things before heading over to Glacier's table. "My shift ended so another waiter will be checking with you shortly, I just wanted to say that I hope you enjoyed your meal and that you visit again if you are ever out this way..." Chimera blushed as he turned and left, being careful to avoid going by the table where he had heard laughter from earlier.

Glacier looked up from where he was munching, sneaking little berries into the kennel through the bars. "Oh, well safe travels home. Oh!" He reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet, holding out a few extra credits for Chimera. "Here, it's your tip." He gave a friendly wink as he seemed persistant on the waiter taking it.

Chimera graciously took the tip from Glacier, blushing a bit harder when he winked. "Wow.. thank you very much." He gave Glacier one last friendly smile before heading out. Pleased to find that the weather was quite pleasant, he decided that he would go for a walk before heading home for the afternoon. He strolled around the general area for almost an hour, quietly talking with Freak about the day. Thankfully it was never exactly 'lonely' when two minds shared the same body.
That of course though, didn't mean that it didn't also bring along troubles. Chimera sat alone on a bench while he talked with Freak, his hand absentmindedly rubbing at his bruised shoulder. He would have to put ice on that when he got home. He closed his eyes and sighed, his tail curled gently against his feet, not realizing that he was now speaking out loud as the two thoughts conversed. Enjoying the warmth that seemed to be drawn to the dark parts of his body he seemed to miss the sounds of a couple of kolthers not far off that were now watching him with wicked interest. His eyes snapped open and his blood seemed to run cold when he heard a sharp pang of something hard hit the bench close to him, followed by terrible laughter. Maybe if he ignored them they would go away. A pebble nailed him on his already sore shoulder. Nope, guess not.
Freak turned his head and half heartedly snarled at the aggressors, trying to intimidate them to back off. He didn't want to fight, or even defend himself. He just wanted to be left alone. "Please... just leave me alone!" His ears were filled with the sounds of their laughing, another small rock was pelted at him, although it didn't quite hit its mark and whizzed by his head. "Stop!" Freak cried out, fighting back the tears in his eyes. The young kolther stood to leave, only to meet a sharp pain to his brow. "Shit!" Chimera's hand instantly went to his head, feeling the warm stickiness of blood on his fingers.

Glacier had finished his meal after a while, still thinking about that waiter. Now walking down the street with Flutter's carrier in one hand, he couldn't help but feel a little bad about not doing anything to help him when he could. No, he probably would have made things worse. He sighed, reaching up to rub the back of his head as he was still in search of some hotel to harbor him and his pet. His ear twitched as he heard some jeering and yelling in the park and he curiously moved in that direction. Again, he spotted the oddly patterned Kolther, now being pelted with stones. Glacier gasped and moved he pet carrier to his tail as he hurried over. He wouldn't just stand back and watch this time! "Hey! Back off!" He snarled at the assailants. They paused for a moment but just seemed to sneer and mock. Glacier wasn't a massive or very intimidating Koltherian. Especially since he was currently wearing purple pants and a colorful jacket. Not to mention he'd been wearing baby blue sandals before he'd morphed into his half form to look a little scarier. They continued throwing rocks, a few brave souls even aiming at Glacier now! A stone scraped his chin and the blue kolth growled, scooping up the stone to throw it back at them and catching them off guard. "Get out of here before I call the fucking cops!" He snapped, on his last nerve with these guys. He stepped protectively between them and Chimera, keeping his bird protected behind him with his tail.

Chimera looked up when he heard a familiar voice, instantly recognizing the blue male that was coming to his defense. He was frozen as he watched, not knowing if he should run or if he should stay and help. Thankfully the small group of kolths that were harassing him backed down pretty quickly when Glacier threatened to call the cops, they seemed to disperse almost as quickly as they had appeared. Once the danger seemed to have passed he let out a deep breath that he didn't even realize he had been holding in. He shook a little as he walked up to Glacier, though he still stayed a few feet away from him. "Why... why did you help me?" Freak's brow furrowed slightly looking guarded, he wasn't used to others standing up for him, usually others would turn a blind eye and not want to get involved. He didn't understand why this stranger would go out of his way to help him. Suddenly Chimera chimed in with "I never got your name."

Glacier turned as Chimera spoke up, looking blue in the face from being upset but he quickly cooled down. "Sorry, I don't normally use language like that. I helped because you were in trouble. I don't like when kolths are picked on." He smiled as his name was requested. "I'm Glacier. Like a big block of ice that floats around in the ocean." He gave a light chuckle, but frowned as he noticed Chimera was hurt. "You've got a cut above your eye..."

Chimera smiled a little when Glacier introduced himself, momentarily forgetting that his shoulder and eyebrow were throbbing painfully. The blood that slowly dripped from the cut was dark blue, staining his fingers when he pressed it again. "And you have a cut on your chin... Here come with me, my place isn't too far and we both need to be cleaned up." He grabbed his backpack from the bench before heading in the direction of his apartment, keeping a quick pace and checking over his shoulder occasionally to make sure that Glacier was still following him. He was nervous... no one had ever been in his apartment before. He considered going somewhere else, but where could they go? Its not like he could just uninvite him after he had saved him like that. It almost seemed too soon when they reached his place, Chimera quickly fishing out the key and opening the door. "Umm, make yourself comfortable, I will be right back." He said as he rushed to his bathroom and took care of his wound. After a few minutes he reappeared with a bandage over the cut and a small medical kit in hand. "Here, let me take a look." Chimera gently got a swab with disinfectant and tilted Glacier's chin up with his other hand so he could see the small cut better, cleaning it with a careful hand and placing a small bandaid on it. "I'm so sorry for the amount of trouble I've caused you today."
