Jararaca Character Development

Look who I finally obtained! As you may know, Jararaca is Viper's father. He's one of the older Kolthers in the group so far, been around on Aivos for a while, but still as passionate as ever.
Jararaca worked as a pilot for much of his life and had garnered quite the reputation doing so. He then met his mate on one of the expeditions, who was a Biologist recording data and studies on new life forms she came across. Both Jararaca and his mate were really into their work which was the primary reason why they were pretty sucky parents, even though they loved their daughter to bits. This was after Jararaca had moved out of his piloting job and into the sciences, and was now working in a lab environment unlike his last job, so he had a little time to spare for Viper on most days. I have an idea for Jararaca's current job, which would include dissecting and experimenting on species brought back from expeditions, but I'd be pushing limits, so I have to see.
Jararaca's father is Taipan. He's a big guy with a large network of connections and the oldest kolther I've seen so far, at 86000 yrs (though I'm sure there are older characters that I haven't heard about yet) He also lost an eye sometime during his life, and has a high tech android eye in it's place. Taipan's mate, who is also Jararaca's mother is deceased. I haven't figured out when or how she died yet, but was considering the idea that she was on a ship that didn't make it back.
Jararaca has a super laid back temperament. Unlike Viper, it is pretty hard to get Jararaca pissed off. You could literally punch him square in the face, and he will give you the biggest doofy grin along with a cocky attitude that would probably end up getting him into even more trouble. Just don't mess with his daughter; he won't stand for that. He is super easy to get along with if you don't mind all of his little quirks.
Jararaca smokes a lot, literally his whole side of the family smokes. The only difference with Taipan is that he smokes cigars. Of course we can see this influenced Viper as well. Jararaca was actually a huge influence on Viper, and a lot of her interests came from him.
Jararaca also likes cardgames and gambling. He's often seen out with his old pilot buddies when not at work, or giving surprise (unwelcomed) visits to Viper.
