The day had worn on, Rifle had been out since dawn going from auctions, to rescues, to adoption programs. None of them had what he wanted. Rifle didn't even know what he wanted... Only that he wanted someone to talk to... Among other things. He kept telling himself he wasn't looking for a mate in one of these humans, but every time he told himself that, he was lying to himself. He couldn't help it though, he found them very attractive, and he rather thought their small nature was cute.
The kolther sighed as he walked up to yet another small rescue place. This one was run by a man named Mana. He knocked on the door and was almost immediately greeted by a smiling- yet tired looking man, "Hello... Are you the one who called earlier?" he asked. Rifle nodded, "You said you had a few up for adoption?" he asked. Mana chuckled and waved the other inside, "A few, yeah. One of them is a bit of a recluse. She isn't shy but she never likes any of the Kolthers that come in here," he said apologetically, "The others are actually quite social and very kind," he said with a smile as he walked into the room where the humans were.

Mana seemed to be happy that someone had come by- but he was feeling off. It was obvious that he was exhausted. Anyone could see that.
The few humans that sat around in the living room looked up to their visitor- the males chatted among themselves at the big guy while a woman approached him, clearly in interest. She was a taller woman with striking red hair, and a smile upon her face. "Howdy!" She greeted him, earning a chuckle from Mana. He was eager to see one of the humans taking a liking to the man so readily. It always made him happy when he saw humans getting along with anyone who came to visit- but there was still one who was missing.
A smaller human with short, raven black hair watched from afar at the interaction, making a sour face as the other was trying to... flirt her way into getting herself adopted.
The red haired woman practically flaunted herself until Rifle leaned over to get a good look at her. "Oh... what happened to your face?" She asked aloud, making Mana blink, and a small noise to come from the back as a fourth human made herself known. This one was never seen; not even by the other humans. She was... and odd looking one, her hair done up into a crest-like style. She was the residence's red-tag, and it was clear to see why. She strode up to the other human with a sort of prideful look to her step and looked to her with a threatening look.
"What's wrong with his face?" She asked her and looked up to the male, then back to her, making her fume.

Rifle entertained the idea of bringing the little red head home. She was chatty, and seemed to be able to hold a conversation pretty well. He wasn't keen on her overly bubbly personality though, and at second thought, he decided against it. Especially after her question about his face. But before he could answer, another female had piped up and strode over as if she owned the place. That was definitely something that caught his eye. Not so much because she had spoken for him, bu because he liked that straight forward and brash attitude she carried.
The tall Kolther knelt down, "What is your name?" he asked, now completely ignoring the red head he had been talking to earlier. The dark haired one was the first human that had interested him since he began this search. He had noticed the red marker on her, indicating she was more aggressive than most others, but that didn't seem to bother him one bit. If anything, it made him all the more interested in her.
Mana looked on with mild concern and hope. Mill hadn't had anyone interested in her since she had gotten here, which was almost two years ago now. If this man somehow decided to adopt her, Mana would feel much better about what he was doing here.

Millicent looked up to the man and crossed her arms in agitation- though it was not directed to him. "Millicent. Mill for short, but I prefer it as is." She said softly and turned to face him; watching from the corner of her eyes as the other woman stormed off to join the two men sitting a ways off. A very subtle smile formed on Mill's lips, as if she were proud of herself for what she had just done. Of course, she was being smug that the other had run off. She wasn't sure why, but she felt... jealous that anyone would talk to this man.

Rifle gave her a very subtle smile, "Millicent, then," he said with a nod as he looked to Mana, "Is this one up for adoption?" he asked, indicating her red marker. Mana nodded eagerly, "Yes, of course, they all are," he said as he smiled at Mill, hoping she wouldn't chase him away. Rifle nodded and looked to the human again, "My name is Rifle, I live a few hours away from here. I'm alone, and have been for a very, very long time. I want to change that," he murmured, his tail flicking idly, "Could I ask you some questions about yourself?" he asked.

For once in what seemed like forever that Millicent had been here, she sat down with a stranger, calm and collected as could be. She had never once attempted to socialize with another being, be it Koltherian or Human. It made Mana hopeful that perhaps she would be picked up and cared for properly. It was typical for possible owners to either become terrified that she had a red tag- or just never see her, as she usually hid to be alone.
"Sure." the human muttered and climbed onto the armrest of the couch in the home, sitting in her little spot where she could see everything.

Rifle smiled and nodded, moving to sit next to her as he asked her basic questions about herself. Her personality, her likes, dislikes, and peeves. He asked her about any illnesses she might have or allergies so he could better prepare himself in case something went wrong. Everything went so smoothly, that Rifle was sure Mana was mistaken about her being reclusive or aggressive. He nodded in satisfaction after she had answered every one of his questions, except one, "Would you like to come home with me?" he asked bluntly.

Mill blinked and looked up to him, answering each of his questions carefully, though she still seemed to have a bit of a bite to her words. It was just who she was. Everything about her radiated a self-centered, egotistical, perhaps even arrogant individual. But she was prideful, and passionate about herself and what she did; what she believed in. And right now she couldn't help herself from becoming very drawn to the man. In fact, she seemed to scoot across the armrest of the couch until she was literally sitting upon his arm.
Of course at the end of it all she blinked and looked to the red mark on her arm, and then up to Rifle. "You really want me?"

Rifle nodded, "If you want to come with me, then yes. I do," he said. Why not? He had nothing to lose anymore, and this human was continuing to intrigue him. He wanted to learn more about her, and give her a place to live where she could be happy. He nodded to the other Kolther, who's ears seemed to perk, "I'll just go and get the papers shall I?" he said as a wide smile spread across his face as he turned to leave. Rifle looked back down to Mill, "I wont force you to come with me, so if this is not what you want, just tell me," he said, holding out a large hand to her.

It seemed like Mill had to think for a moment about what was going on. It was a big choice to be making; one that could alter the way she was living at the moment. But there was something peculiar about the Koltherian that seemed to ease her worries. She wasn't afraid of him. She could hear... something in his voice that wasn't like the things any other had said to her. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but she liked it regardless and nodded. "I'd like to go with you." She said softly and folded her arms over her chest, unknowing of what would become of her choice.
